Risk Insights and OPTEL are pleased to announce their exclusive partnership
November 21, 2023 Quebec, Johannesburg.- Risk Insights and OPTEL are pleased to announce their exclusive partnership for carbon counting and carbon credits for institutions across Africa. This exclusive collaboration arises from the alliance of two organizations recognized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) New Champions Community, dedicated to advancing sustainable business practices.
Climate risk is impacting various aspects of the environment, society and economies with the Earth’s average temperature rising mainly due to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere from human and business activities. The challenge of global warming is resulting in changes in weather patterns and an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather conditions thereby growing universe of business risks. Carbon counting is a fundamental tool for managing and mitigating actions to transition towards a low carbon more sustainable future.
The collaboration between Risk Insights and OPTEL provides companies in Africa not just with the Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions but it will also provide companies with their carbon credit, which will impact companies’ financial materiality going forward in line with the new environmental reporting standards across the Globe.
OPTEL’s CEO/Founder Louis Roy states: “I strongly believe that social responsibility can co-exist with profitability and that we all must play our part and take action so that future generations inherit a better, more sustainable world. Part of my mission is to inspire other business leaders to join the movement, so it’s very important to me that we practice what we preach and leave the earth in a better place than we found it.”
Risk Insights is delighted to work with OPTEL to create shared value and impact for Africa. Anushka Bogdanov Founder of Risk Insights, “In line with President Biden ‘Green Shoots’ strategy this initiative will help Africa attract climate finance and drive and measure sustainability and earn our seat at the table. Data is the currency of the future and carbon counting will allow carbon exchanges to optimize financial performance and mitigate climate risk going forward.”
The partnership between Risk Insights and OPTEL will propel Africa into the carbon counting market. The African continent has the lowest carbon footprint on the Globe and counting carbon will create green consciousness and green opportunities for Africa.
